Every year, the week after Christmas, we spend a week getting away from it all in Rehoboth Beach, De. Our holiday/birthday season stretches from October to December so the week is highly anticipated after a busy couple months. This year a blizzard came up the coast right as we were planning to go. Rather than spend a week snowed in with potentially no power, we opted to stay home and postpone.
Last weekend we finally made it. We love going there in the off-season because the town is empty. There's no traffic, no crowds. It's amazing how simply watching the tide go in and out can revive a tired and worn out body. We spent the long weekend geocaching (so much fun, basically it's a high-tech treasure hunt, Aly calls it "Adventuring!"), shopping at the outlets, and watching more My Little Pony than I care to admit.
On our way out, we stopped at the beach to let Aly run around a little. I think the pictures sum up nicely how we felt after our time away.
Is there anything better than sand?
Apparently shells can be!
And they're off!
These are the moments I want to remember.
